California Hospitals Online

Welcome to California Hospitals Online, a listing of all California hospitals with a social media presence. The development and rapid growth of social media and its adoption by hospitals and other health care entities is a vital and potentially revolutionary aspect of health care in the 21st century. Whether a hospital is posting videos on YouTube; chatting with consumers and donors on Twitter or communicating with a broader community through the blogosphere, these social media activities are changing and being changed by consumers and their growing demand for transparency and immediate access to information.

As we address the changing nature of health care and, as a society, begin to look once again at health care reform, it is important that hospitals and the health care industry in general not be dragged into the discussion, but be an active part of it. Toward that end, a social media presence is mandatory for every hospital in this state and the country.

This site was created and is maintained by Wide Angle Communications as a service to hospitals, physicians, clinics, associations, legislators, media outlets and consumers throughout the state. Our goal is to track and publish all social media outlets being used by hospitals in the state of California. Huntington Hospital in Pasadena joins the list with a Twitter account.

Community Medical Centers in the Central Valley can be found on Facebook and YouTube. They also have an impressive blog list that includes blogs from the nursing staff, a CEO, the Technology Officer and the Communications Dept.
